Syria

SPANA started work in Syria in 1994.

SPANA started work in Syria in 1994. Our veterinary centre is situated in the Syrian Veterinary School of Al-Baath University and we have several of the University's leading veterinary graduates working for us.

Our four mobile clinics travel up to 300km every day to treat sick and injured animals. Syria and Jordan are the only countries where SPANA doesn't visit souks (markets) but treats animals on farms and in villages, which is why our mobile vets in Syria have to travel such great distances.

With help from our supporters and the Syrian Ministry of Education, SPANA’s has created a mobile exhibition which will visit schools in every province during the upcoming school year. Our exhibition, ‘The Amazing World of Animals’, engages children with a mixture of displays and interactive games and puzzles. Several primary schools have already enjoyed a visit from the exhibition and it continues to inspire and educate across the country.

Unrest in Syria

The deteriorating security situation in Syria remains a major concern for SPANA. Our primary focus is the safety of our staff, clients, and the animals in our care.
