Horsepower - Wednesday August 22 – Sunday September 9
Vets with Horsepower was founded in 2010 by a group of senior equine veterinary surgeons from universities and specialist practices who like motorcycles, and have a deep concern for both animal and human welfare in developing countries. The team raises money to support the welfare of working horses and donkeys, and for disabled children in some of the poorest countries in Africa. In the last two years the team travelled thousands of miles on their motorcycles travelling around England, Scotland and Ireland, raising money by providing high level lectures to equine veterinary surgeons and horse owners. NOW they are planning their most ambitious tour yet – a tour across Europe and into North Africa to try to fund diagnostic and surgical equipment for the only two equine clinics in Mali and Mauritania, and to further support the Disabled Riding Centre in Bamako, Mali.
