In addition to our core veterinary and education work, SPANA operates an outreach programme. Through this programme we support other organisations through small funding initiatives and technical advice for their working animal and livestock projects. We’re also set up to intervene in disasters and conflicts, protecting the working animals and livestock that communities rely on for their livelihoods.
The aim of the programme is to reach communities that depend on working animals and livestock, and provide them with immediate relief and long-term solutions. By supporting local organisations we can help more animals and spread our important message to communities worldwide.
Read our case studies below for more on how SPANA has helped organisations to promote the health and welfare of working animals and livestock in their communities. For details of how to apply for our support, please email enquiries@spana.org or contact us by post: SPANA, Outreach Programme, 14 John Street, London WC1N 2EB.

Turkana is one of the areas most affected by drought in Kenya. Its population consists largely of pastoralists, so is heavily reliant on livestock. Working with MSCPA (Missionary Community of St Paul the Apostle, www.facebook.com/mcspa) we have facilitated construction projects for harvesting rainwater, ensuring herds have drinking water in the event of a drought.
