Helping working animals in Peru

Project name: Equitarian Initiative

Project type: Veterinary

Location: Cusco

Working with Equitarian Initiative, SPANA is helping to provide free veterinary care to around 1,000 working equids in five rural communities. Veterinary care provided includes dentistry, infectious disease control and field surgery.

Local children are also being educated through colouring books about basic working equid welfare.

Veterinary students from regional veterinary schools are also being given the opportunity to improve their skills and learn about health issues facing working equids in Peru.
