For many of Tanzania’s 363,000 donkeys, life is incredibly hard, for both them and their owners. Disease, parasites and injury cause working animals untold misery. Persistent drought and the dark threat of the donkey skin trade are also an ever-present danger.
Sadly, so much suffering is caused by harmful traditional practices and a lack of basic vet care. While often not deliberate, many owners lack the knowledge and understanding to properly protect and care for their animals.
SPANA has been working with trusted partners in Tanzania since 2013. Committed and hardworking staff on the ground are doing great work to ease suffering, but the demand for their help is being stretched to the limit. This also means they are unable to collaborate to share resources, expertise and ideas.
Spread out across vast areas in Morogoro, Geita, Iringa and Arusha, these small project teams are desperate for more support to reach the animals that need them most. This is why the time is right to launch Tanzania as a new core country for SPANA.
We would be delighted if you would join us on this exciting new journey by becoming a SPANA Tanzania Founding Partner.
This is a special invitation for you to play a crucial role in shaping the future of SPANA Tanzania. As a Founding Partner, you will be involved from the beginning in increasing treatment, care and protection for working animals in Tanzania.
Of course, we would be delighted with any contribution you can make, but to join this very special group of Founding Partners, we are asking you to consider a donation of £1,000 or more.
Please take a moment to watch this special video and read the report to see what a fantastic opportunity this is – to make a lifesaving difference to thousands of animals in one of the world’s poorest countries.
In recognition of your generosity as a Founding Partner, we would like to include your name on manuscripts to be kept on permanent display at SPANA’s head office in London and at our new office in Tanzania. You will also be invited to a special event in London to update you on our progress.
Please be assured that even if we don’t reach our appeal target of £112,000, then any funds raised will still be used to help working animals in Tanzania. If the generosity of supporters means we exceed our target, then any additional funds will go wherever the need is greatest.
