The rubbish dumps of Bamako, Mali, are a scavenging ground for starving donkeys like Awa – and wounds caused by rusting metal and broken glass on the dump are common. Tetanus can be caught through deep wounds and is an agonising and deadly threat.

Luckily, our SPANA team are there regularly, providing tetanus shots to the dump’s working donkeys, giving them fresh water and high protein feed, and allowing them time to recover their strength. They explain to owners how important it is to keep animals hydrated and provide regular rest.

Today, you could make a difference to the lives of working animals like Awa. Every single action we take to make the world a better place for working animals depends on donations from kind and caring people like you.

PLEASE GIVE WHAT YOU CAN.

THANK YOU.
