Get sponsored to take on one of the world’s most impressive manmade structures: the Great Wall of China. Start your adventure in Beijing where you can explore the diversity of its bustling streets before setting off through hills, along forest tracks, and through ancient mountains. Walk the full 6,000 km of this 2,000-year-old winding wall and soak up the unique culture of China. Discover Adventure also offers an extension trip following the Great Wall trek to see the famous Terracotta Warriors in Xian. If you have an extra four days to spare, this is definitely a sight not to be missed!

  • Days 1-2: Flight to Beijing
  • Days 3-4: Hilly trekking, following Great Wall over ridges and valleys to small village
  • Days 5-6: Hike along forest tracks and steep, well-preserved sections of Wall to Jinshanlin
  • Days 7-8: Trek through spectacular rolling mountains dotted with watch-towers; drive to Beijing
  • Days 9-10: Time to explore Beijing; flight home

Open Challenge slots are available throughout the year.

What’s included?
The cost of your trip includes accommodation, flights and internal transport, meals, entrance to the Forbidden City and all other sites. Costs also cover the Discover Adventure team, including their experienced guides as well as local support, medical staff, guides, drivers, and cooks.

A gentler trek for those interested in one of our international challenges, this 80 km journey leads participants over flagstones and open farmland. Travelling along the wall, you will encounter many steps and the potential for muddy paths so make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes to ensure that you are prepared for any and all weather conditions. The pace is gentle enough to allow all participants to travel at a comfortable speed while enjoying the sights of China’s beautiful countryside.

Sponsorship and Deadlines:
A registration fee of £299 secures your place with a commitment to raise a further £2,850 for the charity of your choice depending the date of your trek. The registration fee guarantees your place on the trip and is non refundable. Once you hit your fundraising target – to be donated to SPANA no later than 10 weeks before departure – SPANA will fund your trip costs.
If you have any worries about hitting this target, please speak to a member of the SPANA fundraising team. Or, you can self-fund and pay a £299 registration fee and a further £1,250 before the trip. You can then donate 100% of your fundraising directly to the charity.
