Leave a kinder future for working animals

You can create a better world for working animals with a gift in your Will

Including a gift in your Will to SPANA means you will help us relieve the pain and suffering of sick and injured working animals long into the future.

Legacies are vital as they pay for nearly half of everything we do for working animals. In fact in 2017, over 156,000 free veterinary treatments for sick animals were only possible because of gifts in Wills. They helped to pay for drugs and vital equipment and kept our mobile vet clinics on the road in the remotest areas.

How your bequest could help

TREAT

Our dedicated vets work where the animals work. Not only saving lives but also travelling thousands of miles to bring a lifeline to desperately ill or injured working animals.

TRAIN

Community training helps owners understand the importance of well-fitted equipment, a proper diet and sufficient rest to keep their animal free from avoidable injury.

TEACH

SPANA’s education programmes transform ignorance or fear into understanding and kindness towards all animals. A bequest to SPANA will help us foster compassion to last a lifetime.

Here is a message from one of our vets in Morocco about the difference gifts in Wills make to the animals he treats.

I've chosen to work for SPANA because they do tremendous work in providing free treatment for animals and also in educating their owners. Nearly half of everything I do is possible because kind people remember SPANA in their wills.

Deciding what you wish to give

We recognise that your first priority when making a Will is to provide for your loved ones. However, many people find that even after they have done this they can still leave a gift in their Will to charity. Leaving a gift in your Will to SPANA is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support working animals.

ONE A good way to help is to leave a percentage or share of what is left of your estate (known as a residuary bequest) after you have provided for your loved ones and all financial commitments have been paid. This way, as the value of your assets increase or decrease, your legacy will adjust also.

TWO You may wish to leave a fixed sum of money (known as a pecuniary bequest). Please bear in mind that this type of gift does not allow for changes in your circumstances or inflation.

THREE You can leave a particular item (known as a specific bequest), such as a piece of art or jewellery, which can be sold to support our work.
Please contact us on telephone 1300 149 080 or [email protected] for details on sample wording to leave a bequest to SPANA. When writing or amending your Will, we recommend that you seek legal advice from a solicitor.

Thank you
