SPANA Veterinary Programme Advisor, Hannah Davies, and Alfonso Martin, equine vet from Auburn Equine Clinic in Ireland, recently spent a week in Mauritania where they set up new diagnostic equipment kindly donated by Vets with Horsepower.

dsc_0266The digital x-ray and ultrasound equipment had been shipped over to Mauritania from BCF Technology in the UK. As well as setting up the equipment, Alfonso and Hannah provided training to both our Nouakchott and Rosso-based vet teams.

Hannah said:

We cannot thank the Vets with Horsepower and their sponsors enough, this equipment will provide a whole new opportunity for our Mauritania centres, allowing our vets to ascertain diagnoses that would have been out of reach previously and improve the welfare of working animals in the country.
