Bromley Jazz Collective Charity Concert to Raise Funds for SPANA, the Global Working Animal Charity

9 April 2025 – The Bromley Jazz Collective is hosting a charity concert to raise funds for SPANA (The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad), a charity dedicated to improving the lives of working animals around the world.

Event Details:
Date and time: Sunday, 18 May 2025, 2:00pm – 4:30pm
Location: Chislehurst Methodist Hall, Prince Imperial Road, Chislehurst, BR7 5LX
Tickets: £18.04 via Eventbrite

The concert will feature John’s Blues Busters from 2:00pm to 2:30pm, followed by a two-hour set performed by the Bromley Jazz Collective. Their performance will include a mix of classic jazz standards such as April in Paris, Summertime, Sweet Georgia Brown, and Autumn Leaves.

All profits from the concert will support SPANA’s vital work improving the welfare of working animals, including horses, donkeys, camels, mules, oxen and dogs. The charity provides expert veterinary care, trains working animal owners in best care and teaches children about animal welfare.

Alexandra Murrell, based in Southwark, is working alongside the Bromley Jazz Collective to organise the event. She said:

‘The concert is an opportunity to enjoy an afternoon of jazz music while raising money for a fantastic cause. I’ve supported SPANA for several years. Working animals are the unsung heroes of their communities, carrying water and helping people earn a livelihood. They deserve a life free from suffering. What’s more, when you help a working animal, you’re also helping the entire family who depends on them.’

Jessie Hill, Senior Community Fundraising Officer, SPANA, said:

‘SPANA is deeply grateful to the Bromley Jazz Collective and everyone involved in organising this wonderful event. The generosity of supporters like them is vital to our ability to provide lifesaving treatment and care to working animals across the globe.’
