She wanted to smash the world record and run 60 marathons in 60 consecutive days.
Animal lover Alice took on this gargantuan challenge for SPANA in memory of her friend, Daniel Robins. Starting on October 1st she ran a marathon a day, crossing the finish line on November 29th cheered on by friends, SPANA and the press. This was despite gale force winds on some days and severe pain in her ankles, knees and hips. One of the marathons was even completed on crutches!
We are over the moon that Alice raised over £6,000 for SPANA and has been named a Guinness World Record holder.
We don’t know anyone else that could take on a challenge like this. We can’t thank Alice enough for the pain, sweat and tears she put into her 60:60 marathon challenge for SPANA. The working animals we treat in impoverished countries have a very good friend in Alice.
Whether you’re inspired by Alice’s running efforts, fancy baking up a storm for the World Tea Party, or knitting to your heart’s content for the Big Knit for Vet Kit, fundraise for SPANA and help working animals the world over.
