Help save donkeys caught in dangerous floodwaters.
Right now, floods have devastated the lives of over 1,000 donkeys at Nyarugusu Refugee Camp, enduring conditions no animal should have to face.
The ground is completely waterlogged, trapping the donkeys in deep, filthy water with nowhere to rest. Standing in these conditions all day is causing painful lesions, infections are setting in, and deadly diseases are spreading quickly. Many donkeys are now too weak to carry on.
Our local partners, Disability Relief Services Tanzania, are on the ground responding to this crisis, but with heavy rains expected to continue throughout March, the donkeys urgently need our help.
While much of the focus is on providing for the people here, we’re stepping in to make sure these hardworking animals aren’t forgotten.
With your support we aim to:
- Vaccinate over 600 donkeys against deadly diseases.
- Provide food and clean water to keep them strong.
- Provide urgent treatment to more than 400 donkeys for injuries and illness.
- Build safe, dry shelters for over 1,000 donkeys to rest at night.
But with more extreme weather on the way, even more donkeys will need urgent help.
