A year to remember: 2019 finances

Since the Autumn edition of SPANA News went to press, our charity’s audited financial report for 2019 has been officially published by our accountants.

This shows that SPANA received £8,515,275 in donations and gifts in Wills during 2019. £4,658,616 of this was generated by gifts in Wills, while £3,856,659 was donated to the charity by individuals and organisations.

Helped by additional funds from our Reserves and investments, we ultimately spent £6,388,233 on charitable activities across 30 developing countries.

In 2019, 73p from every pound we received was spent directly on our charitable work. Meanwhile, for every £1 we spent on fundraising we generated £2.54 in return, making your kindness go further and helping many more animals in need.

As mentioned in SPANA News, the charity’s financial performance enabled SPANA to provide more treatment, training and teaching than ever before in 2019. In the year prior to the outbreak of the Covid-19 crisis, SPANA provided 388,702 working animals with vital veterinary care, trained 57,619 owners and local vets in animal care, and educated 76,898 children in animal welfare.

Thank you to all of our supporters for making this possible.
