Description

Haniyeh, a hardworking horse in Morocco, was severely injured after a collision with a bull, suffering a deep puncture wound to her abdomen. In severe pain and bleeding heavily, she was rushed to SPANA’s Marrakech centre in the back of a flatbed truck thanks to a quick-thinking onlooker. Our veterinary team stabilised the horse then performed an X-ray to check for any internal damage.

Due to the wound’s severity, surgery was vital to save her life. Haniyeh was anesthetised, and the vets carefully cleaned, flushed and sutured the large wound. Post-surgery, Haniyeh received antibiotics and ongoing pain relief. After weeks of careful observation and care, her stitches were removed and she was strong enough to return home, thanks to SPANA’s urgent intervention.
