Majida, a carthorse in Marrakech, was injured after stumbling in a busy market, causing an open wound on her leg. She struggled to bear weight, prompting her owner, Mohamed, to seek urgent help. At the SPANA centre, vets examined Majida and confirmed she had a severe muscle injury but no broken bones. They carefully cleaned and dressed her wound, applying a bandage to protect it and aid healing. They also gave her an anti-inflammatory injection to reduce pain and swelling. Mohamed was advised to bring Majida back in two days’ time to have her bandage removed and then was shown how to keep the wound clean and dry – important steps to ensure Majida’s full recovery.
