Lighten the Load E-Gift

Dansa (meaning ‘joyful’) from Bishoftu, Ethiopia, walks through hot, dusty streets every day, helping his owner, Ibsaa, transport goods to market. Over time, the horse’s old harness rubbed against his chest, causing a painful wound that refused to heal. Ibsaa took the carthorse to his local centre, where our vets cleaned the sore and applied soothing cream. They showed Ibsaa how to continue treatment at home and advised him not to use the harness until healed. The vets then fitted Dansa’s harness correctly, providing soft padding to help prevent future discomfort or injury. They also invited Ibsaa to a community training session where owners can learn about proper harnessing, including how to make and fit their own safe equipment.
