Life is hard for the working camels of Rajasthan, India. In poverty-stricken communities, they work in extreme temperatures and appalling conditions.
But, thanks to your support, SPANA is offering a lifeline to these animals.
Our project in Jaipur and the surrounding areas is providing free veterinary care to sick and injured working camels through our mobile clinics. Working with local partner organisation, Help in Suffering, we have been able to help more than 8,200 camels in the past year. Vital treatment is also being delivered to working donkeys and oxen in the Bassi area.
Alongside essential veterinary care, the team is replacing traditional nose pegs with humane alternatives and fitting carts with reflectors to reduce accidents on the road. They are also providing community training, advising owners on how to look after the welfare of their animals and ensure they stay healthy.
Without this project, there would simply be no help available for these animals. Our work in Rajasthan is only possible thanks to the kindness of SPANA’s Australian supporters, and we are so grateful for your ongoing help. Thank you!
