Every day, working animals are exposed to the risk of fatal road accidents. This donkey was one of the fortunate ones, receiving treatment from SPANA after a severe injury left him unable to continue working.

Every day, working animals face the risk of life threatening injuries from traffic accidents.

Thousands of animals are exposed to the dangers of busy roads daily. Some are struck while searching for food in dangerous areas, while others, carry heavy loads through busy streets, putting their lives at risk.

But you can change that.

By donating today, you can save the lives of animals at risk of, or injured from, road traffic accidents. Your support can:

  • Provide thousands of working animals worldwide with low-cost reflective collars, making it easier for motorists to detect them in the dark when they are on or near busy roads.
  • Deliver lifesaving treatment and vital medicines to working animals who are tragically hit by vehicles and need urgent assistance.
  • Offer training to owners to help them better manage their animals on roads and highways, including harnessing training and guidance on load carrying.

None of this would be possible without your generous support.

Your donation today could save lives. Can you give them the critical care they desperately need to recover? Thank you so much.

Raja was knocked to the ground and suffered deep wounds after being hit by a car.

Raja’s story

Raja, a gentle six-year-old horse, spends his days pulling a wedding carriage through the bustling streets of India with his owner, Samsar. Together, they carry newlywed couples to their celebrations, working hard to make a meager living.

But one fateful day, while navigating a busy road, disaster struck. Raja’s carriage collided with a vehicle, causing him to stumble and fall. The front panel of the carriage broke loose, slamming into Raja’s body, leaving him with deep, painful wounds.

By the time Samsar reached out for help, Raja was in critical condition. His wounds were swollen and infected, and he was trembling from shock. Without immediate treatment, Raja’s life would be in jeopardy.

That’s when SPANA’s mobile clinic team arrived. The vets acted quickly, administering pain relief and antibiotics to prevent an infection. They also gave Raja a tetanus vaccination to prevent any further complications. Samsar was shown how to care for Raja’s wounds make sure they healed properly.

Thanks to SPANA, Raja received treatment and was given a chance to heal. His wounds began to close, and with continued care, Raja was on his way to recovery.

But not every animal is as lucky as Raja. Working animals injured in road accidents often face life threatening injuries that go untreated, leading to unbearable suffering or even death.

Your donation could help save more injured working animals, like Raja, who are struck down on busy roads by passing vehicles. Will you please give today? Thank you so much.
