Tango, a K-9 unit dog, is more than just a loyal companion to Officer Martha Jumbe of the Malawi Police Service (MPS). He’s a trusted friend, comforting presence, and strong protector. For years, Tango has been by Officer Jumbe’s side, patrolling the streets and providing vital support to the community.

Sadly, rabies is a real threat to working dogs in Malawi. That’s why we’re working to administer vital rabies vaccinations to heroes like Tango in the MPS and many other brave dogs working in security roles across Lilongwe, Malawi. We’re also working to raise awareness about rabies, dog behaviour and responsible dog handling, all to improve the welfare of these hardworking canines.

Across the countries where we work, rabies is a common and lethal disease that can be prevented by simple vaccination. Vaccines are an important way of preventing diseases such as rabies. Not only do vaccines safeguard animals’ health and wellbeing, they also protect communities from this deadly disease.
