Why you should consider this event
Taking part in a sponsored walk is a fantastic way to explore the UK while also doing your bit for charity. SPANA affiliate Discover Adventure runs regular Open Challenges for the Ben Nevis Weekend Trek. Climb the highest point in the UK and take in the spectacular views while raising money for SPANA.
Arrive at Fort William, meal and briefing about the trek. Spend some time getting to know your fellow fundraisers!
Begin the ascent of Ben Nevis stopping at picturesque Lochan Meall and t-Suidhe before tackling the zigzagging trails up to the summit. Once the team reaches the summit, you can expect to enjoy panoramic views of Glen Nevis, Loch Linnhe and Loch Eil, as well as the ruins of the observatory at the top of the mountain. Upon returning to Fort William, participants can celebrate with dinner and a drink before a much-deserved rest.
Following a hearty breakfast, depart Fort William and head home – challenge completed!
Open Challenge slots are available throughout the year
The cost of your trip includes travel, accommodation, meals, as well as pick-ups and drop-offs from Fort William railway station. Costs include an experienced and knowledgeable Discover Adventure guide and support staff.
Although the paths can be steep and participants will cover more than 11 miles during their nine hour trek, the well maintained gradual slopes make this a great challenge for a range of abilities. We recommend uphill and downhill training before taking on this challenge to make sure you’re prepared for this intensive day of hiking.
