About SPANA

Established in 1923, our goal is to improve the welfare of working animals in the world’s poorest communities. We inspire others to act in the best interests of working horses, donkeys, elephants and other animals through treating, training and teaching. Our work improves the lives of animals while also supporting the communities that depend on them. In the developing world, just one working animal can support an extended family of up to 30 people. We rely entirely on our supporters to help us in our huge but vital task.
