Doughnuts for Donkeys Gift

A mule named Sakina (meaning ‘Peace’) arrived at our Casablanca centre in Morocco with painful sores on her shoulder and back. Her worn-out saddle had caused constant rubbing, preventing her wounds from healing. Following an examination, our vet team started their treatment by gently cleaning the sores with an antiseptic solution. To promote healing and reduce pain, they placed a doughnut bandage under Sakina’s saddle. The doughnut bandage – round padding with a hole in the middle – cushioned Sakina’s back and allowed her wounds to heal effectively.

The vet showed Sakina’s owner how to clean her wounds to promote healing, and advised him on how to avoid injuries like these in future.
