Donkey foal

Six-month-old Masun appeared at our Jordan centre gates one morning having been abandoned by her owner. Read about Masun’s experience and how a new-found friend made little Masun feel more at home.

SbannerPANA staff at the Wadi Al-Seer centre in Jordan were not surprised to find little Masun the donkey outside their gates. It’s common for owners to abandon foals that are too young to work. The six-month old was checked over and although nervous of her new surroundings, was found to be in good health.

dsc_0444-reorientatedTo make sure Masun stayed calm, the vets introduced her to Nina, a six-month old mare being treated for a hoof abscess. Nina immediately took to Masun and looked after her new-found friend while she settled in.

The SPANA team plan to keep Masun at the centre for a year before looking for a new home for her. She has plenty of options, either with a responsible new owner or as a new addition to the SPANA education centre stable where she would join Tulip the donkey and other animals.

Masun has definitely landed on her feet thanks to the efforts and kindness of the SPANA Jordan team. Would you like to give a better life to more abandoned, neglected, sick and suffering working animals like Masun in the future? Find out more about remembering SPANA in your will.
